Trailblazing at Bukit Timah Nature Reserve
This was actually the last stop on our hike up the 6km bike trail at the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. Lugging 2 bags of camera gear and light stands through the dirt trail wasn’t pretty and to top things off we no one remembered the insect repellent ! greeaatt…
Series after series of muddy slopes and 1 wooden bridge later, we finally came across the fallen tree pictured below and setup for some Mountain Biker action! Maaaad props to Jonathan for repeatedly working his obstacle clearing moves till I got the shot !
Essentials for the shoot:
1. Athletic assistance ( doubled up as talent)
2. D.I.Y Ball bungee and lights
3. Extra Batteries and double checked equipment
4. Ice cold Red Bull
What we forgot
5. Insect Repellent
( Not pictured is the pre-shoot Beer. Feel free to experiment with Chang or Tiger)
More pictures and details on the setup after the jump !
The first stop on the hike up the bike trail was this wooden bridge. To get the low angle I had to climb off the sides into the muddy bank about 1.5metres below the bridge. Making sure there was a clear path for the biker to ride through, the Speedlite(580ex2) was mounted on a light stand and secured to the out edge of the hand rail with 3 bungee cords.
Shot a couple of frames and added the 2nd Speedlite(430ex) at the back to “open up” the background and give the rider a nice rim light !
Ok, sign me up for any expeditions you have when I’m back in September!!!! And don’t worry – I NEVER FORGET INSECT REPELLENT!
No Problemo ! September it is !
Me too!! Count me in!
Dude you plan one in Malaysia and we will all go !!!
